It is for God’s glory. That is it, plain and simple. I do not love teaching at a Lutheran school for any other reason but that God is glorified. He is glorified when students sing, apologize, learn, and grasp that incredibly difficult concept. He is glorified when students get that “try again” attitude and give their work their best effort. When a student is humbled and realizes their focus was misplaced, God is glorified. There is an eternity-changing knowledge in students’ dependence upon Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; and God is glorified. There is the acknowledgement of sins and repentance of them. In this, God is glorified. Finally, there is love: first illustrated by Jesus, then mimicked by the students, and God is glorified.
Dear coworkers in the Kingdom of Heaven, the next paragraph is the same as what you read above. It just changes the focus from the students to you and me.

“’Father, glorify your name!’ Then a voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” John 12:28
