“Be strong and courageous, for the Lord will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
St. Paul, Ann Arbor Kindergarten students worked on a special service project in the month of April. One of the students’ uncle is serving with the Coast Guard in Guantanamo Bay, and the two Kindergarten classes collected items to send to the men and women who are serving with him.
Items collected included toilet paper, body wash, shampoo, ground coffee, baby wipes, handsoap, sunflower seeds, nuts, gum, candy, and other things. Thrivent Action Grants were used to help with the cost of assembling and shipping the packages.
Mrs. Lori Grulke, one of the Kindergarten teachers, sent an email to the school staff explaining the project: “We want to bless these servicemen with some treasures and treats from back home! If you are unable to give a donation please pray for them. That is something we can all do! They are sacrificing so much and it such a hard time for their families to be apart.”
On Monday, April 30, the Kindergarten students put together more than a dozen boxes packed with prayers, treats, and treasures for the soldiers.
