Choral Opportunities for Singers to Participate in an Once-in-a-Lifetime Worship Event1 min read

The Michigan District, LCMS has created two remarkable opportunities for singers to participate in a concert and an once-in-a-lifetime worship event. On Sunday, October 15, 2017, Lutherans from all over the state of Michigan will gather at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing. Ten thousand people are expected to attend and a mass choir of over 500 volunteer adult singers and three honors choirs (4thgraders through college-age) are being assembled.

Reformation 500 Honors Choirs Auditions (current 4th graders through college)

The Michigan District, LCMS will be accepting video auditions for singers (current 4th graders through college-age) who wish to participate in one of three 120-voice Lutheran Honors Choirs. These choirs will present a pre-service concert. Conductors include: Mrs. Hannah Bingham, Founder and Artistic Director of Viva Voce Youth Choir; Mr. Josh Pedde, Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir; and Dr. Jerry Blackstone, GRAMMY® Award Winning Conductor, Director and Chair of the Conducting Department at the University of Michigan.

Auditions will be accepted through April 15, 2017.

Reformation 500 Festival Adult Choir

All adult singers (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) are encouraged to join the Festival Adult Choir that will participate in the worship service. The choir will be conducted by Dr. Brian Altevogt, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choirs at Concordia University Ann Arbor.
